Bourjois Paris Shine Edition Lipstick // Review

07:46

I think that as consumers, we tend to be drawn in by what is new and shiny and is in pride of place at the top of the display. Forgetting about the amazing products that made us love that particular brand in the first place!

I say this, because I have never really taken a second glance at the Bourjour lipsticks, only the crayons. So when I was in boots a couple of weeks ago, I was swatching away and was really pleasantly surprised at how pigmented they were (all the while telling myself how much I need it.. I didn’t). I’m talking in particular about the shine edition in the icy blue and shiny silver packaging.

The shade I eventually chose was Rose xoxo no:24 (another midtone pink… really?). This particular shade is very pigmented and just one swipe gives the same colour as shown in the bullet *winner*. It seems to have some golden shimmer running through it, which is almost undetectable on the lips as it appears to look like a sheen in

stead of a sparkle. Even with the shimmer, the lipstick doesn’t feel as though there is any bits in it. When reapplying, I found there to be no dryness, which gives me a bit of confidence to not have to check my lipstick every 5 minutes to make sure I’m not left with just that dodgy line round the edge, where the colour has worn away completely in the middle of the lips. I did’t have a problem with this lipstick bleeding and I have tried it both with and without a lip liner (though I do prefer with).

They are all very balmy in texture and feel very moisturising on the lips. The wear time wasn’t incredibly long, I’d probable say it was about 1-2hours on me at most. I had eaten and stuff though, so I wouldn’t expect it to be long because of how moisturising they are.

From what I can tell, the packaging is colour coded for the different contrasting shade of lipstick, making it pop. Although the packaging isn’t my favourite, as I prefer more sleek maybe matte finishes (because I have OCD and can’t handle the amount of fingerprints that appear) It doesn’t have that satisfying click that some higher end brands have but it is definitely worth checking out the next time your near a drugstore. It is available for £7.99 at Boots and Superdrug. Both stores have a 3 for 2 on selected products at the moment. So if you want to try this out, now is the right time! (I am not your conscience....)

Have you tried any of the Bourjois Paris Shine Edition Lipsticks?
